11+English and Beyond Course

11+ English and Beyond is a unique and fantastic short course held locally in Sutton. It gives Year 5 and Year 6* students the opportunity to work in a small group setting to gain some essential English skills when studying for their 11+ English exams and using this knowledge further when starting their English secondary school education. At just £99 per student for three days, your child will get a wealth of information in a short time frame!
*Note: This course is only for Year 5 and Year 6 students.
Bookings for this course that runs in the Sutton area, ususally takes place in the summer (July and August). It's just £99 per student for three days.
What will they Learn? Your student will work on many of the subjects that may potentially be on on an 11+ English exam, such as Comprehension Skills and Writing Creatively.

Equally, students will encompass the foundation subjects of a English GCSE Curriculum, so that when they get into Year 7 at Secondary School they are familiar with some of the Reading and Writing skills with this in mind.
Some of the 11+ English and Beyond subjects we cover are:

How to Read and understand a challenging piece of text such as Robinson Crusoe and writing an appropiate answer that demomstrates a Point, Evidence and Explain response.

Understanding how Inference equally works in a effective way when writing a Comprehension answer.
We also look at some Shakespeare Texts, as they have been known to pop up on past 11+ English exams!

Creative Writing Skills are explored, so that your student will learn to add into their writing figurative language techniques such as: Similes, Metaphors and Personification. They will also explore upskilling their writing and improving their Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation and many more skills will be mastered!

​I have sucessfully seen many of my past students gain places into the following schools: Tiffin Boys and Girls School, The Wilson's School, Wallington High School for Girls and many more Grammar Schools that require students to take this exam.
​But sometimes it doesn't always work out that way...and they may not find a place in these particular Grammar schools. One thing I am certain of, is the skills they gain from my course will assist them when they go to any secondary school; regardless of the outcome.
